About Jaime Valencia

My name is Jaime Valencia. I have lived in Commerce my entire life, have been married for 10 years, and help care for my elderly parents, who also call Commerce home.

I understand firsthand the importance of building a city where families can feel safe, supported, and proud to remain for generations.

Service has always been important to me. I had the privilege of working as a lifeguard at the City of Commerce pools and later served our community as a Planning Commissioner and Education Commissioner. I have also served as President of the Commerce Evening Lions Club, supported United Families of Bristol, and participated in volunteer efforts to clean and improve our neighborhoods.

Professionally, I spent 30 years as an accountant before becoming an advanced-certified automotive technician. These experiences taught me to examine the details, solve problems, work responsibly, and never lose sight of the people affected by every decision.

My Priorities for Commerce

Public Safety

Addressing vehicle theft and dangerous illegal fireworks so our neighborhoods feel safe again.

Families & Seniors

Improving programs and services that support families and our elderly residents.

Responsible Development

Promoting growth that respects our neighborhoods and quality of life.

Protecting Taxpayers

Ensuring public money is spent transparently and wisely.

Veterans Park

Moving forward with the long-awaited redevelopment of Veterans Park.

Listening Government

A City Hall that answers residents and puts neighborhoods first.

Why I’m Running

I am running for City Council because Commerce residents deserve a city government that listens, responds, and earns their trust. When residents contact City Hall, they should receive answers. When public money is spent, residents should understand how and why. When decisions are made about development, public safety, and city services, the needs of our neighborhoods must come first.

I am funding my own campaign and have not accepted money from special-interest groups. I answer to the residents of Commerce, and my loyalty will remain with them.

Commerce has given my family and me a lifetime of memories, opportunity, and community. I am ready to give back through honest leadership, responsible decision-making, and service that puts residents first.
